THE BANANA BANK

CW: Pat O’Brien AD: Nuha Lambe

Challenge: Perishable food goes to waste when people travel – it’s either tossed before a trip or goes bad while travellers are away.

Insight: Millennials love to travel. And the main offender that gets tossed most by Millennials? Bananas.

Idea: Air Canada & Olio introduce The Banana Bank to combat travel related food waste.

The Banana Bank?!

The Banana Bank is a limited time, experiential pop-up located in the financial district of Toronto. It lives amongst financial institutions to highlight the worth of what you’ve got at home: Bananas.

By donating bananas to The Banana Bank, you earn Aeroplan points that help you travel way beyond the Bloor line.

With that in mind, there are various small scale Banana Bank drop off locations across the city that make earning points, easy.

But Why Bananas?

With the growing use of banana paper as a more sustainable alternative to traditional paper, Air Canada will use it wherever possible.

This includes everything from baggage tags & boarding passes to beverage sleeves.
